Everybody Still Loves Halifax

An odd fish, this one, since Mary had the next two scripts written out, but not this one, meaning I had to do the artwork with only a rough idea of what was happening in the strip, so she could add the dialogue later on. The central strip of the page is the only thing I was really strongly interested in, really -- working without a script gave me the freedom to bulldoze a big strip of space and work on some expressions. It was going to be a talking heads comic anyway, so why not run with that and find a way to make it look interesting? Which is why you have the time-honoured run-on dialogue, something I've seen used countless times in comics but can't think of a single bloody example of right now.
I was also particularly interested in looking at body language for Halifax and Holly -- I knew they had next to no dialogue thanks to the outline for the strip Mary told me, so I tried to get across what's going on inside their heads non-verbally. I'm not too sure on whether the second panel worked in that respect, though I think in the final panel, their bodies say exactly what I wanted them to.

The close-up panel didn't entirely work as well as I hoped. Tara looks a bit too much like Kathy Griffin for my liking.

DAVID'S DVD EASTER EGGS:

Reference material for Holly's crossed legs pose at the end of this strip included Sharon Stone's crossed legs in the infamous interrogation scene of Basic Instinct. Holly, however, is wearing knickers, even if Halifax might not be seeing them for a while.
