I really shouldn't write nine-panel scripts. Really really. It means I have to do a lot of pictures, far more than normal strips (I tend to average about seven panels on a 'normal' one, at least one panel of which is usually repetition) and some of them barely even make sense as images. Why is there a smiling Halifax in the eighth panel? BEcause I was tired when I wrote that script, that's why. And when it comes to drawing them, I don't see that panel description and say 'hang on, that makes no sense'... I just go 'whoo-hoo! Easy panel!'.

There's a couple of panels I really like on this one, and a few others... not so much. The first two panels turned out really well - an instance of drop shadow adding more of an effect instead of just being something to hide the fact that there was no background. The heartbroken Ormrod panel is nice, even though Halifax looks like he's getting ready to go on a gay cruise. Either that, or he's auditioning for the role of Cassidy in the 'Preacher' movie. The final panel really cracks me up, because Ormrod looks so damn pleased with himself. He should really have a gleam of light bounding off his teeth.

The star of the show is Jelene, though -- I expected to have to go through hell to draw up a completely new character, but Jelene seemed to pretty much just trip off the pencil and onto the page, all four scowling, swearing feet eleven of her. Expect to see Jelene either in future flashbacks (something of an oxymoron if taken out of context, I realise) or else cropping up in Halifax's future.

Best bits: Jelene all the way; Ormrod's dodgy-as-fuck hero pose.
Worst bits: the eighth panel due to lack of sense and poor drawing; the filesize.
