This is probably many people's life stories right here.

Having to draw Spike bumming Giles is possibly one of the oddest things I've had to draw for this comic. I've drawn Buffy herself into the comic before (in Bruce Timm animated style) and synopsised the entire seven-season run of the show in a couple of hundred words; I suppose, when you move beyond the realms of the show, you stray into fanfic.
Mary managed to write this script without ever reading fan fic, slash fic, or watching even one episode of Buffy. Though you'd never know, because it's pretty damned accurate from everything I've seen of it (a fair amount of fanfic, much less slashfic, every episode of the TV show.) She did know who Giles was because of his appearances on the Gold Blend adverts Little Britain.
Of course, if James Marsters were ever to play Rocky in the Rocky Horror Picture Show, and Anthony Stweart Head were to reprise his old role as Frank-n-Furter (Google image search him -- you can turn up pictures of him in full 'Furter drag) then this shot would really merely be an outtake.
I'm sure one day we'll complete the set by having versions of Willow and Xander appear in some fever-dream or childish scribbling. It was only two years between Buffy's appearance and the Spike/Giles one -- not too long to wait at all.

DAVID'S DVD EASTER EGGS:
I really wrote the start to that terrible slash-fic story just to illustrate the background. None of the words you can see are actually dirty in the context of the crappy opening paragraphs.
