Going Home Again

Tara's always an awkward one to draw, not least because of those ridiculous dreadlocks. She also has a strange facial structure that doesn't really make her look like the same person from different angles, which is where the iconic identification of dreadlocks and colour comes in handy. Her clothing style can best be summed up as 'slightly weird suburban hippy.' You get the impression the poor girl was born a couple of decades too late for her own good, and compensates by being very nice to everyone. (Thinking about it, she's probably unconsciously patterned after Kasumi Tendo from Ranma 1/2; which would logically make Kali the Nabiki of the family and Shakra into Akane. Which is all sorts of funny if you know what I'm talking about, but not so much if you can't tell your Happosai from your Hinako.)

Yes, the first panel is an attempt to make the act of pouring tea into a very dramatic shot. I call it a Hollywood angle.

DAVID'S DVD EASTER EGGS:

Tara is holding her 'World's Greatest Lay' cup, last seen when Halifax visited her house last year. However, the kettle she is using is now beige, as opposed to her earlier penguin kettle, which has been subsequently sighted in Halifax's kitchen. Did Halifax steal the penguin kettle? Did Tara give him the kettle? Did Halifax buy an identical kettle while Tara's own kettle broke? Perhaps we shall never know. Or perhaps the great saga of the penguin kettle will become next year's major storyline. Except it won't.
