Hope for the Hopeless, part two
13th April 2009
D R Williams
That's a Robert Crumb imitation in the first two panels; the third is an imitation of the way I drew the strip in 2005 when Holly first appeared (technically I didn't start doing that coloured lines thing until five or six strips after she first appeared, but it felt more like the old style when I did it that way).
Too bad Mary skipped over Russia when she wrote the scripts for this story arc (though they would have been superfluous -- we've been over that story a couple of times by now) -- I used to really have fun drawing those greyscale-and-red parts of Year One. Except the fight scene where I lost my mojo and ended up using IK+ for the Commodore 64 as reference. Or was it Yie Ar Kung Fu? I forget.
