An Immodest Proposal

DAVID'S DVD EASTER EGGS:
The black gentleman in the background of one of the panels is a chef at a moderately-priced restaurant not three blocks away from the Unquestionably Malcontent coffee shop. He started as a kitchen-boy when he left school, and showed enough promise for Swelter, the head chef, to put him through catering school. Now he's twenty-eight and the only thing that stands in the way of being Head Chef is Swelter, who shows no signs of retiring anytime soon.
Our protagonist is left with a moral quandary: does he stay in his position, content in the knowledge that he's learning from a master and that one day power will pass into his hands? Or should he use his expert chefmanship to poison Swelter, making it look like the master chef simply died of a case of nasty food poisoning, something no chef would want to call a doctor in for, lest his reputation be ruined? Or should he strike out on his own, pooling his life savings (and those of his girlfriend, Taryn) with the largest personal business start-up loan he can secure, and sink the lot into a new restaurant, blending Caribbean and Scottish cuisine?
You decide. Because he'll probably never appear again.
