Coffee Talk

8th November 2006
David R Williams

The interior of the coffee shop is one of the more irritating backgrounds to draw write now; for one thing, I don't have the layout really in my mind, so I'm never quite sure on what should be in the background of any given angle. The other annoying thing is that it pretty much forces me to draw background people, which I guess is at least good practice. Plus it means I'm not just re-using a stock background of the counter over and over again as if there aren't any customers in the shop at all.
(Slight hypocrisy: I've obviously re-used the price board a few times here even in shots where it seems to move around the room. I was pushed for time.)

Culture clash note: in England, 'Public School' actually means private school.

DAVID'S DVD EASTER EGGS:
The Unquestionably Malcontent coffee shop has a coffee maker that turns into a killer robot driver instructor from the future, a dishwasher that becomes a mobile disco, and a ceiling fan that turns into a small bungalow on the outskirts of Southend-On-Sea.
