You can't always go home again
1st May 2006
David R Williams
This is the second version of this comic that I ended up drawing. The first version I decided to get all arty with and painted the whole thing up to the final stage when I had it ready to post. Except then I decided I didn't really like it, because I'mnever quite as good at painting as I imagine I am, and I'd hate to ruin Mary's script with substandard art or serve up crappy art for no better reason than 'it was finished'.
So I sat down with some paper and a copy of the strip on-screen and re-drew the whole thing into the usual pen-and-ink format. I made sure to keep everything in roughly the same position so that I could use the same framework and speech balloon layout, as well.
Which might actually seem a bit mentally ill, but hell, why put up something I can't say I'm proud of?
