On The Good Doctor's Advice
10 August 2005
David R Williams
Well, after two weeks away, here's the continuation of the ongoing storyline. I know it's been a while since this storyline was featured, so I threw in some recap dialogue for anyone who's lost the thread on where everything was -- and without it seeming stilted or forced, I think.
It's amazing just how long it took me to do all the post-scanning work on this -- the colouring and shading, then the putting-together of the strip. In two weeks I've grown remarkably rusty at this stuff. It didn't help that I somehow managed to scan everything wrongly, so it was picking up all sorts of pencil marks and grain on the paper that I wouldn't normally have to deal with. I'm pleased with the finished result, though: I think the last panel on this strip is possibly the best Kali's ever looked.
By the way, the next time any kind of webcomic awards roll around, I fully expect to be nominated and voted for by everyone reading this in the 'Best Childbirth Scene' category. I spent absolutely ages getting that panel to look right, and even then I couldn't get her feet right (they were meant to be in stirrups, but I couldn't get them to look right. Feet are very hard to draw, especially at weird angles.)
