Dead Piro Halifax Day #4
25 July 2005
David R Williams
The comic pretty much says it all, honestly. I was going to try to do a part for today, a part for Wednesday and a part for Friday of a three-part comic story, but it doesn't look like I'll get one done before I go to bed tonight. I'm uploading this now just to get something up on the site. Updates to follow through the week -- possibly sometime tomorrow, then either very early or very late on Wednesday, thanks to the seven-and-a-half-hour flight eating up a big chunk of the day, plus check-in time beforehand, baggage claim and immigration at the other, plus travel time to and from airports as well as any delays at any of the stages. All told, I'll be spending at least twelve to fourteen hours just travelling on Wednesday. Thursday, jet-leg willing, I'll post something if only to say I got here okay, or else to say that I was stopped at immigration and flagged as a terrorist for being from England and carrying a bag. Friday I'll get a comic up, then next Monday I'll hopefully be back on regular schedule, continuing the regular storyline.
It's going to be strange, being back in the U.S. again: I have to get used to different things, like slightly different paper (somehow, the paper I have back in the U.S. lets you ink things nicely on one side without any bleeding, but soaks it up like a sponge on the other and bleeds like mad. I have to remember to test the paper first every single time, or else I spend ages on a picture and then find myself completely unable to ink it -- though that happened with crappy paper here earlier this year, and I got around it by coating the paper in hairspray so it couldn't soak up any ink.) Mary's scanner is also very different than mine -- slower, bigger, runs off the parallel port (um... I think), and requires an external power source. I think it scans at the right resolution, though, so hopefully image quality won't be compromised. (My scanner is about the size and weight of a large-ish hardback book, and gets its power solely from the USB port. It's also pretty fast at previewing and scanning, even at high resolutions.)
Readers of my other comic, Fred Basset Upfucked, needn't worry -- I'll continue to update it daily. Or, pretty much. I haven't done today's yet due to packing, and Wednesday's may be awkward due to huge travelling times.
