The Bride
31 March 2005
David R. Williams
This is an anime-styled Bride from 'Kill Bill,' Quentin Tarantino's two-movie revenge epic. It's actually less anime and more Bruce Timm styled: it's meant to look like a Saturday morning cartoon version of the character. A Bruce Timm cartoon of 'Kill Bill' would be a lot of fun, even within the restrictions of children's programming: every week, the Bride must face off against yet more challenges as she tries to find Bill, a shadowy figure we never see properly until the final few episodes. The rest of the Deadly Vipers would be trying to stop the Bride from getting to Bill: whenever her mission took her to Japan, O-Ren Ishii and her sidekick Go Go Yubari would be after her, sending out hordes of swordsmen (who would be, I don't know, robots or something.) Hattori Hanzo would be the Bride's mentor and guide whenever she needed to lie low; that and flashbacks to the Cruel Tutleage of Pai Mei Wong.
One day I'll do some more pictures to go with this one: O-Ren Ishii, Go Go Yubari, Budd Gunn, Vernita Green, the shadowy figure of Bill Gunn, and of course -- Elle Driver.
