Shit Happens when you least expect it.

The Comic
Shit Happens is a drama-based webcomic centred around the life of Halifax, a directionless thirtysomething, his ex-wife Holly Qi, and the extended family of Shakra Armin, Halifax's on-again-off-again-on-again flatmate. The stories revolve around the knotted patterns these various characters leave through each other's life, as they try to find direction while staying one step ahead of their past.

'Year Zero' refers to comics created from 2003-2004; these are very much a learning curve, and although the stories are considered canon and set up much of what happens later, they are not considered representative of the current incarnation of the comic.
'Year One' refers to comics created during 2005; this comprises the 'Death of Halifax' storyline.
'Year Two' refers to comics created during 2006; this comprises the 'Redemption' storyline. Well, most of it. We were busy.
'Year Three' is currently under way. Who knows what the future will bring? Apart from us, obviously.

The Crew

David Williams
David is an Englishman in New Jersey, which doesn't really make for much of a song, although arguably Sting didn't write much of one in the first place with 'Englishman in New York.' David co-created Shit Happens and then spent eighteen months working as both scriptwriter and artist, from Year Zero through the middle of Year One. He now works as artist on the strip and is officially considered co-plotter, though much of what this entails is standing at arm's length and bashing the story occasionally to correct the course and make sure it doesn't hit any icebergs.
David reads a bajillion and one webcomics and cites John Allison's 'Scary Go Round' and Randal Milholland's 'Something Positive' as his biggest influences; influences outside of webcomics include Jim Mahfood, Jamie Hewlett, Phil Bond, and Japanese art-goddess Rumiko Takahashi.

M Elizabeth Coy
M. came on board as co-plotter halfway through Year One of the strip; beginning with year two she took over as full-time scriptwriter for the comic, giving David more time to not draw the comic on time and less excuses to shield himself with.

She holds a degree in psychology and has a full-time job with the New Jersey state government; she is also a keen blogger and photographer, as well as coding this website. She currently reads no other webcomics except this one.
