Shit Happens is a webcomic that originally ran from 2003-2009 before going on 'indefinite hiatus' (webcomic-speak for 'the creators got lazy'), leaving the entire plot dangling like a modifier in one of Aaron Sorkin's jokes.
The current series of strips beginning in September 2010 is a collection of stories that apocryphally took place during the first year of the comic (often given as 'Year Zero' on this site) and the year preceding this. The framing sequence of these stories casts the entire webcomic as a television show, with each story being an episode either lost, cut, or forgotten. Although frequent references are made to the original run of the webcomic, it's not necessary to have read through the whole archive in order to understand what's going on - so jump in, and enjoy!
For old readers still waiting for a resolution to the main body of the storyline, we still intend to finish the story and tie up loose ends in a narratively satisfying way (webcomic-speak for 'rocks fall, everybody dies'). In the meantime, we hope you enjoy reading these 'throwback' strips and remember the days when Shit Happens was all about people doing mean, funny, things to each other instead of dealing with things like emotional depth and coherent plotting.
